East Lancashire Branch

The East Lancashire Branch covers the whole of East Lancashire.Map of Lancashire This includes the Boroughs of Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.

This large branch area was brought about by the merger of the former Blackburn and District Branch with the Burnley and District Branch in 2007.

We have a total of 580 members, 92 of whom are widow members.

These include day trips to the races at York and Chester. In addition in recent times we have had 3-4 night trips to London, Dublin, Paris, Christmas Markets in Cologne/Boppard and Amsterdam/Bruges.

It is important that the friendship and camaraderie which existed in our police service does not cease on retirement. Whilst all our shared experiences and sense of belonging have membership of the branch to continue as part of the "police family", our primary purpose is that of welfare. Widows of former members are very much part of this "police family" and we strive to include them in all our social and welfare activities.

We produce a quarterly newsletter which is posted to all those members who are not on email. Those on email, about a third of our membership, receive their newsletter by email but also receive regular Branch Updates which they are asked to pass on to those members not on email. This provides an almost immediate and wide ranging means of communication with the majority of our members.

We have an active committee which helps us to ensure that our Branch Welfare Policy is followed as far as possible.
